nope it's not a joke.
'Student stabs prof, jumps' happened right at the door step of my school.

while we were in the midst of discussion in tutorial at around 1038 on my clock,
carol walked into class a little dazzled.
i specifically noted her dark eye rings today, thinking she probably didnt had a good recess week as well.

then she went on saying...
"i think somebody just committed suicide.
there's a crowd at EEE and i heard someone saying about suicide.
when i took the lift at B3, i saw this guy clad in orange over the ledge.
i thought he was some painter.
my eyes were a little blur so i just walked on."

moments later, irwin received an sms from chron chief editor about some breaking news and seek permission to leave class to cover the story.
it confirmed carol's suspicion and we heard sirens subsequently.

as shocking as it may be for the first day after recess week,
that very block is where i walk through to school.
i thought back and evaluated the circumstances.
it totally sounded like the scene in benjamin buttons.
here's a breakdown...
it was reported that the whole incident occured between 1025 to 1030.

if i hadnt left hall at around 1010 today, which i normally would leave at 1015, to return equipment before my class at 1030.

the time was 1022 when i was in EEE.
if i had been more hurried,I'd go to B3 and take the long steps down to B6.but i didnt and went to B2 instead, checking my reflection against the windows.

the time was 1024 when i reached the equipment place, it was 1026 on my phone when i walked into school.

in those few minutes, the student stabbed the prof at B1 while i was at B2.
in those few minutes, the student could have slashed himself and was stumbling within EEE to B3 while i was waiting for the lift at B2.

what would have happened if i left hostel a little late,
stared a little longer at the trees and walked a little slower.
what if the slightest change could just leave a scar in me.

god protected me from so much trauma.thank you lord.
still, i couldnt help but wonder if i really did bump into him along the way.
what would i say to him? what would i do?

on another note, we are comm students arent we?
going online within the first few minutes to check the news (and lect was on online journalism today),
knowing about what happened when the rest of the student population dozing off in other lectures, cursing about shitty assignments...
