i just read the papers and feel a need to blog my response to a certain article regarding religion.disclaimer: this post is not targeted at any being or religion.it is entirely my own personal opinions.
Shocked by student's view
Dr Chew has chosen a religion for herself after 'exploring' various beliefs and values that each holds.
now the question is,
perhaps religion is something that humans generally engage themselves into in order to get closer to other terrestrial beings of higher powers.
fervent fear, moral practices and teachings-
it can somewhat be concluded that most religions teaches good and not bad, or else it'll be a cult.
however, i feel that Dr Chew's action/ decision or exploration to solve the problem of 'her grandmother not being able to go to heaven cause she's a taoist' is a mere escapism.
or rather, is she getting a religion to fit certain beliefs that she already holds?
then where does fervent fear, higher powers and authority comes from if we conform our religion to our beliefs and not the other way round.
she feel that students have to have better knowledge of religion before it turns into ignorance. and tolerance of religion diversity cannot be out of taboo but of mutual understanding of the society.
if i know everything about a religion before i practice/belief in it, where's faith in it.
isnt faith believing in something unseen?
to me, christianity is not a religion but a relationship with god.
i feel his being and presence.
i fear him.
i appreciate his grace and mercy.
i do all these in faith.
Cause god is absolute so principles in the bible holds absolute truth.
acceptance of all religion is perhaps a social obligation.
but believing and worshipping other gods is another issue altogether.
